We’re seeing less white everywhere. People are favoring white with a contrasting color like black or grey. Warm colors like yellow are coming back into fashion.
As far as countertop materials, porcelain countertops are not taking off. The main reason is that they are very easy to break. When something costs a fortune yet easily chips, it’s unlikely to create much in terms of consumer demand.
The same goes for sinks. Porcelain sinks are our last option, and we don’t even stock them. Besides having the same issues of being expensive and chipping easily, they also tend to have issues with draining properly.
The dominate countertops are still granite and quartz. What’s new is that quartz has increased in popularity to the point that it is now about even with granite. It’s increasing in popularity so rapidly that by 2020 or shortly thereafter, we may see quartz overtake granite as the most popular type of countertop. When choosing a sink, it’s important to know what your preferences are in terms of everyday use. We at Fox Granite believe sinks are more about function than looks. When it comes to what’s in fashion, under-mount sinks are still the dominant trend when it comes to stone countertops. Farmhouse sinks are continuing to grow in popularity despite the fact that it can cost as much as $1,500 to install them (including all costs such as retrofitting your cabinets). We think you should only go with farmhouse sinks if you absolutely love them.
Stainless steel sinks are still the most popular types of sinks. They are deep sinks that last forever. The other extremely popular kind of sink is the granite composite sink. Though they are twice as expensive as stainless steel sinks, they are extremely durable and come in a variety of colors for you to choose from.
Subway tile in a variety of dimensions is very popular. In terms of color, we’re seeing not just white but lots of greys. We’re also seeing both offset and bond stacking (stacking them straight). Other styles like mosaics, beveled subway tiles, and even undulating subway tiles.
